The first ever bespoke, curved Trex composite deck built in Surrey
Description
Surrey’s first ever custom curved trex composite deck and our second experience of creating a curved deck using heatcon composite heat blankets.
The owner of the property had already sketched a design of how they would like to create a curved deck around their garden gym. The design had quite a tight radius of just 2.1m, and we hadn’t even curved our first board at the time of the meeting. We were confident it could be done and our optimism was rewarded.
The deck had two curves, one concave and one convex radius. Both of which gave this deck a lovely flow.
Framework
The deck was constructed on composite posts, we then built the timber frame from C24 GRADE timbers. The frame was then Taped with Trex Protect joist tape, a self-adhesive butyl tape designed to protect the top of your timber joists. This prevents moisture ingress that can lead to joist rot and loosening of the deck screws and fasteners.
The boards are fastened down with Universal clips to achieve a screwless finish, the outer boards are fixed with either Colour Match or pro plug composite deck screws.
