London's first ever bespoke curved Trex composite deck
Description
A perfect opportunity for me to prove my skills yet again. I set out my deck frames and used my radius arm to transfer my two different radius onto the frames, one at 3.6m and the other at 4.5m.
I then set up two templates to curve my boards to. Once the deck frames had been built and my radius cut. We fully blocked out the picture framed areas to support the curved deck boards.
I laid both decks before setting my radius arm up again to mark out and cut my curve into the deck. Then we carefully laid out our curved boards overlapping to give the best curve possible. The end results surprised myself and my client at how well the finished deck looks.
Framework
The deck was constructed on composite posts, we then built the timber frame from UC3 Treated C24 GRADE timbers. The frame was then Taped with Trex Protect joist tape, a self-adhesive butyl tape designed to protect the top of your timber joists. This prevents moisture ingress that can lead to joist rot and loosening of the deck screws and fasteners.
The boards are fastened down with Universal clips to achieve a screwless finish, the outer boards are fixed with either Colour Match or pro plug composite deck screws.
